Family firm Search and Select brewed up a popular way of celebrating 20 years in business.

The executive recruitment agency started on October 1, 1998.

The company wanted to thank clients for their support over the last two decades.

So it was arranged for Flo the Coffee Van to park up outside the office in Upper Church Street, Douglas.

The converted 1968 Citroen horsebox has been lovingly restored and fully kitted out to serve a wide range of hot drinks, sugary delights and street foods.

During the day, elevenses and afternoon tea was served up by Annabel Gentry from ’Flo’ to both clients of the company and staff.

Search and Select was founded by Alan Burman, who is now chairman, alongside Barbara Burman, Chris Talavera and the late Roger Breadner.

Mr Burman’s daughter Sally Fenton, nee Burman, managing director and owner, joined the company in 2003, with her brother Mark Burman joining a few years later in 2007.

They still recall the early days when their parents formed the company.

Sally Fenton said: ’While I’ve been with the company 15 years, being a family business, Mark and I have been involved in many ways since the beginning and in that time, we’ve seen a huge amount of change.

’One thing that has stayed true since day one is the incredible ethic, commitment and passion of the team and business.

’I love working in a fast paced industry which is constantly changing in terms of opportunities, markets and technology, and having a skilled and solid team, great culture and the right working environment is crucial to our success.

’I feel incredibly proud to be reaching such a fantastic milestone alongside the best possible team, none of which would be possible without the support of our valued clients.’

Sally’s brother and director, Mark Burman, said: ’Since joining the business in 2007, I have focused my efforts on developing a cost effective, high quality temp service for the Isle of Man and beyond.

’Just over a decade ago, timesheets and payment processes were completed manually which is a frightening thought in today’s digital world. I’m genuinely thankful to the clients and candidates who have put their trust in Search and Select and I’m excited to see how the company and industry evolve over the next 20 years.’

Since 1998, the company has grown, with 11 local staff, five of whom have been with the company for more than five years and continue to place candidates across all of the island’s business sectors.
