A rugby match brought a sea of colour and party atmosphere to the island thanks to a finance sector firm.
Douglas Rugby Club hosted Vale of Lune XV in North One West in a game which celebrated the long-standing link between the island and its Lancaster neighbours.
The clash was jointly sponsored by Douglas-based professional financial services firm Wilton and the Royal King’s Arms Hotel (Lancaster).
Wilton managing partner Tony Flanagan said: ’This was a special occasion, bringing together two communities which have big rugby fraternities and have got to know each other well in recent years.
’Players and fans from both sides were able to mix both during the match and afterwards and enjoyed great camaraderie and hospitality.
’It was wonderful to welcome such a large travelling support to the island from Vale of Lune which really added to the party atmosphere.’
Douglas won the match 30-7 at Port-e-Chee and consolidated eighth place, one place above Vale of Lune,
