Workplace injuries and the latest initiatives to protect workers will be discussed at a conference in March.

It has been organised by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health’s (IOSH) Isle of Man branch.

The branch’s annual health and safety conference 2019 will focus on ’promoting excellence’ in health and safety management practices within all areas of industry throughout the Isle of Man and beyond and provide an opportunity for delegates to hear about the latest initiatives and changes to legislation.

Speakers at the conference include: Chief Minister Howard Quayle, representatives of the Manx police force, Tim Eldridge, the vice president of IOSH, and Jenny Deeney, a speaker who lost her partner and a close friend in a workplace accident.

There will be other first-hand accounts of life-changing episodes experienced by individuals who have been injured at work.

The organisers say that the conference will be an ideal networking event for everyone, whether from the public or private sectors, to gain valuable knowledge during open discussions and networking opportunities that will take place between a variety of speakers’ presentations.

Delegates will also get to see how membership of IOSH can improve their career prospects, while giving them the opportunity to bring new ideas and initiatives to the branch by standing for the local executive at its annual general meeting on Friday, April 26.

The conference 2019 is on Wednesday, March 6, at the golf club at Mount Murray, Santon. The event, which is free, including lunch and refreshments, is limited to 120 delegates and registrations must be received by February 22.
