Isle of Man-based Standard Bank Wealth International has been shortlisted in three categories in this year’s International Fund & Product Awards.

The offshore division of Africa’s largest bank by assets is one of two nominees in the ‘Best International Private Banking Service’ category while Sam Thomas, a wealth manager with the bank’s West Africa team, is one of eight nominees hoping to be named ‘Best International Young Talent’.

Standard Bank’s wholly-owned ‘boutique investment management company’ Melville Douglas has also been shortlisted in the ‘Best International Discretionary Fund Manager’ category.

The 19th Annual International Fund and Product Awards will be held at the Merchant Taylors’ Hall, in the heart of the City of London, on Thursday, October 4.

The awards are organised by International Investment magazine and are highly regarded in the international investment and wealth adviser community, attracting more than 150 industry professionals from more than 65 companies.

The Isle of Man is also nominated in the Best International Finance Centre Award category, along with Jersey and Guernsey.

Greg Barclay, head of international wealth and investment, personal and corporate Wealth of Standard Bank Wealth International said: ‘I am delighted that Standard Bank and Melville Douglas have been shortlisted for these major awards, which is testament to our client centric focus and the dedication and expertise of the team.

‘I would particularly like to congratulate Sam, who aged just 27, is already a highly respected and trusted adviser across West Africa.

‘I wish him every success in this inaugural category at the awards.’
