There’s a chance to hear from a design chief for the world’s biggest coffee shop company at a ticket-only event next month.
Lynn Day, the head of design for Starbucks for Europe, the Middle East and Africa will speak at an Isle of Man Business Network event.
She will talk about her rise within the coffee chain, how she embraces innovation, the challenges of being a working mother and how she has flourished as a woman in the workplace in her 50s.
Ms Day’s career in commercial interior design and brand consultancy spans more than 30 years across a broad range of sectors including retail fashion, banking, hotels, bars and restaurants.
Within Starbucks, Ms Day has led a growing team of more than designers responsible for designing about 3,000 stores across Starbucks’ Europe, the Middle East and Africa region.
The Isle of Man Business Network is a not-for-profit organisation that facilitates educational experiences and professional networking opportunities to people living and working on the island.
Its chairman, Katie Nicholson, said: ’Lynn Day is renowned for her work which is visible globally, and we are thrilled she has accepted our invitation to come to the island and share her experience with our members.
’Whether you’re an avid design fan or not, her rise to success and the path her career has taken is fascinating and truly inspiring to anyone in the world of work today.
’We anticipate this will be a sell-out and so we’d urge people to book quickly so as to avoid any disappointment.’
The event is ticket-only and takes place at the Claremont Hotel in Douglas on Tuesday, November 6.
Doors open at 5.30pm, with a buffet being served before Lynn’s talk starts at 6.15pm.
Tickets are £12 for members and £18 for non-members.

Starbucks currently has one public shop in the Isle of Man.
It’s on Victoria Street, Douglas.
However, if plans get the nod, another will open in a joint development with KFC on Peel Road, Douglas.
