Equiom Solutions will be hosting its annual seminar on Tuesday (January 23) and UK tax updates will be high on the agenda.
Guests from the island’s business community will hear presentations from the Equiom team on tax updates and the implications for island residents and their advisers.
The event will be opened by non-executive chairman of Equiom Solutions, Clive Stanford and will kick off with a presentation on ‘Isle of Man tax planning – life and legacy’ by the managing director of Equiom Solutions, Helen Woods.
Next up, senior tax consultant Glenn Cassidy will offer an insight into ‘Investing in UK commercial property post the 2017 Autumn Budget’, followed by Derek McNutt and Roy Callow, also senior tax consultants, who will bring the discussion homebound with the topic of ‘Isle of Man company taxation – pitfalls and profits’.
The final topic of the day will be presented by tax director Monica Dixie, who will explore the ‘Extra-territorial reach for UK legislation’.
The seminar will conclude with a summary and question and answer session, along with closing remarks from Clive Stanford.
Helen Woods said: ‘Given HMRC’s initiatives to combat tax evasion and avoidance as well as the most recent UK budget announcement, non-UK persons are increasingly affected by changes in UK tax legislation.
‘Our annual seminar aims to highlight these changes and help paint a clearer picture on how it all impacts Isle of Man residents.
‘With an experienced and knowledgeable line up of speakers, I hope the event will prove informative for residents and advisers alike.’
Equiom Solutions provides tax and estate planning services to Isle of Man residents and businesses and helps with annual tax obligations, as well as outsourced tax compliance services for fiduciaries.
The event takes place from 8.30am to 11.30am at the Palace Hotel.
