Dandara is continuing its long-standing support of a popular junior competition at Peel Golf Club.

The homebuilder will once again sponsor prizes for the club’s open competition, which will take place on Monday, August 13.

The contest is open to junior golfers from clubs across the island.

It is organised on a ’medal’ format, meaning players from as young as five through to more experienced golfers up to the age of 18 can qualify for a prize.

Dandara managing director Seamus Nugent told Business News: ’We’re pleased to be continuing our sponsorship of Peel Golf Club’s Open Competition for junior players.

’We have a strong connection with Peel and are always happy to support events and initiatives which bring people and families together in the community.

’Golf is a fantastic sport for children to get involved in and it’s great to see Peel Golf Club committed to developing junior golf on the island and so many young people interested.

’It is a challenging game to master and requires patience, control and persistence - three very valuable skills to learn and develop as you grow older.’

Peel Golf Club was founded in 1895 and has since grown from strength-to-strength.

It boasts the largest junior section of all the island’s golf clubs, with more than 70 young golfers who play a variety of formats depending on ability.

Peel Golf Club secretary Sue Milne said: ’We’re proud to have such a strong junior section and contests such as our annual open competition can only help younger players gain competitive experience and, as a result, improve the standard of golf on the island.

’As a club, we are dependent on the valued support of our sponsors.

Dandara has been involved in football, cycling, volleyball, bowling, rugby and others, and is continuing its title sponsorship of Isle of Man Golf’s junior order of merit and junior championships in 2019.

The Peel Golf Club open competition is open to junior golfers from across the island, and all levels of experience and ability are welcome.
