Staff at Zurich can return to work after the insurance giant take precautionary steps against Covid-19.

A person who had close contact with two members of staff had taken a private test which returned a positive result for the virus, though this later proved to be a false positive.

As a precaution, the company chose to send its staff home on Thursday and to carry out a deep clean of its headquarters on the Isle of Man Business Park in Braddan.

A spokesman said: ’The health and safety of our employees is paramount.

’We followed internal procedures and responded immediately when we identified that two employees had been in contact with the individual in the community who it seems gave a false positive test, following their negative result yesterday.

’Both employees were tested for Covid-19 and both results were negative. Our Isle of Man headquarters is now ready for employees to return.’
