A night of entertainment with West End singers raised £20,000 for two island charities.

Stewart Clague Services (SCS) hosted a cabaret night in celebration of its 50th anniversary which saw Manx-born Jonathan Eio and his fellow West End singers in the Frankie Valli tribute show giving a performance.

The funds raised on the night will be equally split between Monitors4Kids and Age Concern.

Director of SCS Alan Clague said: ’We had a brilliant evening, supported by great organisations from local businesses to clubs, all backed up by a fabulous West End performance.

’Making £10,000 for each of the two charities was just the icing on the cake.

’Yet again, it shows how the island can raise much needed cash for worthy causes.’

West End actor and singer Jonathan grew up in Glen Maye and attended QEII High School before leaving the island in 2002.

He has been a member of the cast of the music tribute show ’Walk Like a Man’ for seven years, which has taken him around the world.

The show is based on the 60s American rock and pop band Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, who are famous for their big hits ’Sherry’, ’Walk Like a Man’, and ’Big Girls Don’t Cry’.

He and his fellow singers Thomas Sutcliffe, who has appeared on the West End in the musical ’Wicked’, Ian Curran and Michael Riseley, who have appeared in the West End production of ’Les Miserable’, have given previous performances in the island.

SCS, which provides building services, has consistently shown its support in helping Monitors4Kids - a parent-led campaign that aims to replace finger prick blood testing with painless monitors for children with type 1 diabetes.

The painless continuous glucose monitoring (CGMs) are not available on the NHS in the Isle of Man. Manx Diabetic Group is backing the campaign.

Age Concern Isle of Man was set up in 1992 and works to improve the quality of life for older people who live here.
