A stage production of Calendar Girls has raised £30,000 to be split between five local charities.
The production of Calendar Girls ran from Tuesday, August 25, and was the brainchild of Stephanie Gray, who also stars as Annie Clarke, whose husband’s battle with cancer inspired the calender.
Running for five nights, the show was the first performance run for any show since the Gaiety Theatre reopened after being closed by Covid-19.
Director Benjamin Heath said: ’It is always a privilege to perform inside the Gaiety Theatre but to be able to stage a performance at such a unique time and for such fantastic charities has been sublime.
’I am in awe of the efforts of the cast and crew in pulling together this performance at such short notice.’
The production team also wished to thank the island community for supporting live theatre, and local companies, the Arts Council and the Gaiety Theatre who all helped make the production possible.
All the money will be split between Hospice Isle of Man, Breast Cancer Now, Breast Cancer Care, Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation and the Royal British Legion.
The calendars, produced for the play, remain available via Hospice shops and the supported charities.
