An up-and-coming rock group have collaborated with their fans across the world to produce a poignant video to accompany their latest single.
Call Me Amour, an electro-rock group formed in the Isle of Man around the song-writing partnership of local guitarist Geoff Murphy and singer Harry Radford, released a new single, ’Recover’, this week.
To accompany it, the group asked their growing fan base to send in videos of themselves, recorded at home during the lockdown.
They teamed up with British videographer Warren Spencer who created a moving and meaningful video interspersed with footage of news footage and empty city streets.
The video gradually moves from an initially dark outlook to a more generally positive and uplifting one, gaining plenty of praise and new fans in the process.
Geoff said that the band decided to release the song ’Recover’, as they thought it was a suitable song for the current times, and they were also keen to create something that would speak to their fans during the lockdown.
’I think the video works really well,’ said Geoff.
’It does start off quite dark and negative, but then builds up into something much more positive and hopeful.
’Warren filmed footage of empty city streets from around London and elsewhere and we also asked some of our fans to send in footage of themselves doing whatever it is they are doing at home too.
’We were really happy with the response we got from the fans who sent videos in. There were some really nice moments there and it helped give the video a really personal feel.’
They even had videos sent in from America and New Zealand and also had contributions from top international groups, such as New Year’s Day and Lowlives, two groups they have toured with recently.
The band were forced to cancel plans to record new material for an album once the restrictions hit home.
’We wanted to get something out and released during this time,’ said Geoff.
’We had worked hard over the past few months leading up to the lockdown, and we’d built up a lot of interest and momentum which we were wanting to keep going as much as we could.’
The video to ’Recover’ can be viewed on the band’s Facebook page, and the single is available across all the usual platforms.
