The government is looking for organisations or individuals who are capable of constructing onshore renewable energy installations that are able to produce 20MW of renewable electricity.
Following the unanimous approval of the government’s climate change action plan phase one by Tynwald in January, the island is aiming to generate 75% of its electricity by renewable sources by 2035.
Ultimately, the policy is to have net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Expressions of interest should be made by Friday, September 18.
Minister for Policy and Reform Ray Harmer MHK said: ’Onshore renewable energy looks to be the most viable option and therefore it is important that we begin to look into and develop these opportunities.
’Meeting our climate commitments will lower the island’s carbon emissions and ultimately lead to an island that is net carbon zero in the not too distant future.’
