There will be no pedestrian access to Pulrose Bridge from 4.30pm on Sunday, February 6, for five days as the latest phase of its ongoing rebuild takes place.

A specialist contractor from the UK is to apply a waterproof treatment to the entire deck of the bridge next week, work that should hopefully be completed by Friday morning.

The Department of Infrastructure explained: ’This treatment has to be in place before the asphalt road surface can be laid.

’This work will require the current footpath to be closed to pedestrians whilst it is underway.

’Our main contractor has also programmed construction of the permanent upstream footpath to immediately follow application of the waterproofing. This will be undertaken whilst this closure is in place.’

Whilst this closure is in place pedestrians will be directed via the NSC footbridge and Bowl car park. This route will be signposted.

Access for pedestrians to/from the Riverside estate from the Bowl car park is unaffected. Access between the Bowl car park and Peel Road is also unaffected.

The Department apologised for any inconvenience that this closure causes.

The project is due to be finished in time for TT.
