It’s the Festival of Motorcycling - and police are urging road users to be vigilant.

The first practice session is due to take place tonight (Saturday) with the course closing at 5pm and re-opening not later than 9pm.

During open roads, the Mountain Road will remain two-way.

No cycling is allowed on the Mountain Road until September 3.

Police are urging motorists to take into account the increase in motorcycles on our roads during the festival.

’Use your mirrors and anticipate what may be ahead,’ a spokesman posted.

Drivers and motorcyclists are advised to watch their speeds.

The Onchan/Laxey/Ramsey Coast Road has a 50mph limit in the places which are normally derestricted for the fortnight.

’Please make sure you are aware of where the new limits are otherwise you may receive some penalty points and a fine if you are caught exceeding them,’ said the police spokesman.
