Members of the public are welcome to join an evening of entertainment in aid of a Curraghs Wildlife Park conservation project.

The Rumble in the Jungle event has been organised by University College Isle of Man students to raise money and awareness of the park’s silvery gibbons, which are an endangered species.

This charity fundraiser will consist of a poker tournament, where guests will receive a Chinese buffet and will take place tonight (Friday) at 8pm at the Palace Casino in Douglas.

Team leader Ellie Miller said: ’It will be a fun and educational evening, as there will be a presentation at the beginning about silvery gibbons to help raise awareness and funds for the park’s breeding programme.’

Adam Crebbin, who is acting as frontline manager of the event, added: ’There will be approximately three tables in the casino that are non cash tables where people can drop in free of charge and learn how to play games for 15 to 30 minutes.

’If guests then choose to play for real they can then move on to another live table in the casino.

’They also have the opportunity to win raffle prizes if they buy tickets. Any money from raffle tickets bought would be donated to the wildlife park.’
