A ’beautiful’ scene of floating lanterns will be put on display at Onchan Park next month, Beach Buddies’ founder said.

Floating lilies and lanterns with tea lights will light up the boating lake on March 14 as part of an event by Beach Buddies and Breast Cancer Now Isle of Man.

The original event, which was set to take place at Mooragh Park in Ramsey this Saturday, was changed by the hosts.

Bill Dale said: ’People can come and sponsor a floating lily or lantern. We’ve tested them and it looks very beautiful. The lilies and lanterns are made of silk and we draw attention to the fact that they are floating rather than flying lanterns.’

The lilies and lanterns are reusable and the charity aims to use them again for future events.

The Onchan event will take place from 5pm to 7.30pm.
