Charities in the island will be setting up stalls in the hope of gaining volunteers to help their causes.

Volunteer Week Isle of Man is taking place next month to celebrate the work people do which make a difference to others’ lives.

’The Big Volunteer Recruitment Event’, which will be held at the Sefton Hotel Garden Room on March 2, provides residents with an opportunity to scope out the different charities and even choose to sign up as a volunteer.

It also helps charities raise their profile in the island.

Alison Lester, organiser of the event, said: ’We are extremely lucky on the Isle of Man that people give their time so freely for the benefit of others and the social interaction volunteering provides cannot be underestimated.’
