The Isle of Man Children’s Centre has applauded the amount raised for charity thanks to a group of long-distance cyclists.

Seventeen cyclists who rode from London to Nice in May raised almost £28,000, and funds are still coming in.

Children’s Centre event organiser and cycle participant in the challenge, Lisa Motley, said: ’We really went for it this year with this endurance event. The team rode almost 1,000 miles and climbed 60,000 feet, including the iconic Mont Ventoux but all their efforts have paid off with this incredible amount raised.

’These funds will make a massive impact on the care and support our charitable services team can deliver. I cannot thank everyone enough.

’We do have more challenges planned for 2018 and 2019 so I would encourage everyone to follow the charity on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and continue to support the valuable work we do for children, young people and their families within our community.’

The event, was sponsored by Playtech, the kit by KPMG with the Isle of Man Steam Packet supporting the travel. The Children’s Centre hailed the venture as a great success, with everyone enjoying a challenging cycle ride for the charity, and it thanked the sponsors.

Participants who took part but could not make the photograph were, Julien Andrew, Nikki Sharpe, Stephen Morris, Dave Newsham, Darren Lawrence, Matthew Hills, Matthew Owen, Andy Bell, Paul Swindale, Ryan Thomas and Micky Swindale.
