Volunteers have been pressure washing the legs of Ramsey Pier ahead of an inspection.

Work on the community-led restoration of Queen’s Pier has made good progress.

Phase one of the project, which comprises the first three bays, is on track to be completed by late spring.

But structural engineers need to sign off the works before that first section of the pier will be allowed to reopen.

A 2001 engineering consultants’ report found the legs of the pier were in good structural condition. This was backed up by the restoration trust’s own survey.

Pressure washing took place last weekend to remove the barnacles and check the condition of the rivets.

On the pier, volunteers have almost finished laying the decking on bay 2 and will start work on bay 3 this week.
