Port St Mary Golf Club captain Robert Karran presented a cheque for £530 to operations manager of Port St Mary Lifeboat, David Kneen, at the conclusion of his Captain’s Day on July 8. The money was raised from the annual Captain’s Drive-in as well as the Lifeboat Day competition and a Captain’s Day competition.

In his speech, Mr Karran told the large audience that a few years ago David persuaded him to have a trip out on an exercise with a view to joining the crew. All was going well but after half an hour Mr Karran became quite ill and has remained on land ever since.
