What is your idea of a perfect meal?

I decided to go ’pesky’ last year, so my choices have changed somewhat, but it is more to do with the right company, atmosphere and location. However, if there is Manx lobster on the table, I’m doubly happy.

What is your favourite way to relax?

I’m secretly a loner, so I enjoy the rare times that I have to myself, and I get to read or watch the things that I wouldn’t normally get to.

What is your greatest extravagance?

Over the years I have treated myself to a few pieces of work by some of the brilliant local artists. I have a few now by Bruno Cavellec, Juan Moore, Adam Berry and Nicola Dixon.

What is your greatest achievement?

I guess it would be the documentary ’The Watchmaker’s Apprentice’ that I made with Dave Armstrong and Zoe Guilford. It was a privilege to tell the story of George Daniels and Roger Smith. I just wished that George had seen it before he passed away.

What is your favourite time of the year?

End of summer, passing into Autumn. There is still some warmth and hours left in the day, and there is the turning colours of the trees.

What is the first job you ever had?

It would be helping out in the Castletown Laundromat with the local legend Keith Callister. That was a real education.

What is your worst habit?

Overthinking everything.

What is your favourite book?

That changes regularly. At the moment it is Neil Gaiman’s Graveyard book. Anything by Gaiman, really.

What is your favourite TV programme?

Anything full of heart, humour and a good helping of quirkiness. Most recently I have loved the BBC2 series Mum, Spectacular characters, wonderful characters and brilliant performances.

What is your favourite band/artist at the moment?

I enjoy variety too much to pick just one!

What is your favourite part of the Isle of Man?

The landscapes of Tholt-y-Will and Niarbyl are hard to beat. But I love happening across the quieter, more tucked away areas when out walking and exploring. I’m not going to tell you where they are though. I’ll keep them secret.

What is the last show/band that you saw live?

It would have been ’Flight of the Concords last week, if they hadn’t cancelled.

Choose three people, dead or alive, to invite to dinner?

My Grandfather on my mother’s side, who remains one of my favourite people ever, and my other grandfather, who died tragically when my dad was just 19. The third would have to be a choice between Paul Newman, Stephen Hawkings and Malala Yousafzai.

Which do you prefer:

Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings? Lord of the rings.

Cats or dogs? Dogs.

Birthday or Christmas?

Christmas.

Starter or pudding?

Starter.

Quiet night in or night out?

Depends on the company.
