Christmas-themed Manx gifts will be on sale at a special event next weekend.

The ’Made by Manxies’ market will take place on Saturday, November 4, from 10am to 1pm at the top hall of the Promenade Methodist Church on Loch Promenade, Douglas.

Organiser Karen Cowell said: ’We will have a wide variety of crafts represented including papercrafting, baking, sewing, home decor, accessory making, woodworking, candlemaking, knitting, crotchet and lots more, so there is bound to be something for everyone’s taste and also pocket.

’All the handcrafted items on the stalls will have been made locally by Manx-based crafters and so there won’t be the ever-debated issue of how many air miles have had to travel to get to people, one advantage of buying Manx.

Admission is £1 with under fives being free.

Karen added: ’We are holding this market to raise valuable and much-needed funds for the Promenade Methodist Church as a little thank-you from all those involved in the Made By Manxies Craft markets, for letting us use their premises to hold our markets.’

She added that the Made By Manxies markets had continued to be a successful market since a relaunch last year.

Currently, there are two markets per year, one in May being a market to raise funds for Manx charities or organisations.

She added: ’I like to think of all my lovely stallholders. I am a member of the Promenade Methodist Church and my church has always been very supportive of my markets and what we try to achieve, so I like to think that by holding a market for them, we are supporting them too.’

From next year the craft markets will have a slightly new look, with future markets being held in the afternoons instead of the mornings.
