Following an explosively productive spell, a local group have released their second EP.

Alt-rock punk group Circus World, who are based around the song-writing team of Mikie Daugherty and Mark Sayle, last week unveiled a five-track EP, entitled ’The Deceiver’, the follow-up release to last year’s ’Burning Well’ EP, on the local independent label Small Bear Records.

Mikie, who handles the bulk of the guitar duties with the group, said that they recorded twenty songs during 2016, which they have since spent more time working and mastering.

’I quite clearly recall the day that we originally put the song together,’ said Mikie.

’Mark had already written the bulk of it, and it was instantly obvious to me that it was going to be a great song the moment that he played the melodic riff that features on the choruses and intro.’

The band have also released a single, ’High’, complete with video, which has already gained favourable reactions from several online music critics.

’High is a modern twist on 24 Hours From Tulsa,’ said Mark, the main lyricist with the band.

’It’s about that conflict someone feels when they have to end a perfectly good relationship just because they’ve "found" someone else. It’s basically a pop-rock song about guilt and the repercussions of infidelity.’

The Deceiver EP is available as a five-track download or as a 10 track CD, with five bonus tracks taken from the bands extensive back catalogue, available for on a name-your-price basis from the Circus World bandcamp page.

The group hope to release two more CDs, taken from the 2016 session, in the near future.
