The Isle of Man Motor Museum hosted its first event of the season recently, with the Ford Festival and Classic Car Show celebrating 50 years of the mark one Escort RS1600.
There were six mark ones there, alongside two mark twos.
Also present were a wide variety of Fords ranging from a 1914 Model T all the way through to a 2018 Ford GT and everything in between including A Model A, Customline, four Capris, Cortinas, a Consul and a Prefect. The modern classic Fords were well represented with a number of Focus ST and RS models, along with Fiesta STS and an Escort Cosworth as well as a pair of mark two Fiesta XR2s.
Muscle cars included three different generations of the Mustang. In addition to this Ford-powered cars such as the Rover 75 V8 and De Tomaso Pantera were present.
Event organiser Steve Glynn said: ’After months of waiting to be able to host an event, it was a welcome sight to see the display area so full of cars, over 70 were counted in total, just under 40 of which were Fords.
’Everyone had a great time catching up and sharing their stories about their pride and joy.’
The event also attracted a large number of classic and modern classic cars and some newer super cars, including a Lamborghini Aventador and a Mercedes AMG GT R, a brace of Nissan R33 GTR Skylines, Toyota Supra, Honda Civic, Triumph Dolomite Sprint, Austin A35 and Healey and a Maserati Spyder to mention a few.
