The clocks are set to go back one hour this Sunday, October 25, at 2am as British Summer Time comes to an end and Greenwich Mean Time resumes.

This will mean an extra hour in bed and lighter mornings but darker evenings.

The process has happened in UK since Parliament passed the Summer Time Act in 1916.

We contacted Douglas Council to find out about the process for changing the Jubilee Clock on Victoria Street, arguably the most famous clock in the island.

A spokesman said: ’The mechanism is digitally controlled and the process is automatic.’

So it seems, much like how we do not have to worry about changing our smartphones as most update automatically, the Jubilee Clock does not need to be changed by a man with a large key as we might have expected and as once was the case.
