The cast of a magical pantomime finally got back to rehearsals after being forced to miss a month’s worth of practice for their upcoming show.
The Cloideryn community theatre group resumed its preparations for ’Aladdin’, the group’s traditional winter pantomime.
After being forced to postpone the show, which, all being well, would have come to a close this weekend, Cloideryn will now take to the stage on Friday 5 and Saturday 6, March, followed by Friday 12 and Saturday 13, March.
The cast features a mix of actors, both young and old, with one or two faces you may recognise.
Rosie Dow stars as Aladdin, with 12-year-old Sienna Callister as Princess Jasmin.
Rhys Yardley is Jafar, will be aided by Andy Done as Widow Twanky, the panto dame.
Also making an unlikely appearance are Ramsey MHKs Alex Allinson and Lawrie Hooper as two menacing henchmen.
Cloideryn producer Heather Ruffino said that, after getting over the initial disappointment, the cast have thrown back into rehearsals and are keen to hit the stage.
’Obviously everyone was heartbroken,’ said Heather. ’Carol Fraser, our director, has done a great job of keeping everyone in track and they have been really great.
’The cast have kept themselves busy and, when everyone came back into rehearsals last Sunday, everything started clicking again and coming back onto shape.
’Its been hard work but we are getting back into gear.
’The kids have also been really good. They are still very excited and they are itching to go. They all remember what they are doing and they a great bunch to work with.
’When they first announced the lockdown, we were all a bit wobbly and the worry was there that once the three weeks were up, would it then carry on and on afterwards. ’Fortunately everyone on the island has been so fantastic that, three weeks later, here we are, ready and open. That saved us.
’Its makes our show that little bit more special. Especially with the situation that we are in, everybody is raring to have a bit of fun, unwind and enjoy some entertainment.
All tickets already purchased will be valid for the new dates and further tickets are available from the Ramsey Library, priced £6.50, with £5 concessions.
