The Department of Infrastructure has announced some of the island’s coastal roads will be closed from 11.30am.
Douglas promenades will be shut from Broadway to Port Jack, Castletown promenade from Hango Hill to Bridge street, Shore Road, Gansey and Laxey promenade will all close.
Should conditions permit, some or all of these roads may be reopened earlier than the current estimate of 4pm.
Harris Promenade (Broadway to Greensill’s corner ) will remain open, but signage is in place to close this road should it become necessary.
Between 12 midday and 4pm; all high sided vehicles will be prohibited from travelling on the Mountain Road between Ramsey and Douglas. This is due to winds gusting up to 75 mph. This will be shown on roadside matrix signs.
Highways Services are deploying staff across the Island in order to deal with issues caused by the weather. Other scheduled work is being suspended.
