Two of the island’s choirs recently came together for a joint weekend performance.
The choir from St Germans Cathedral teamed up with the King William’s chapel choir to sing choral evensong, on Sunday, March 31, performing to to a full congregation at the Peel Cathedral.
Members of the College staff also took part in leading the service.
The choirs were led for the service by Dr Peter Litman, the director of music at St German’s cathedral, who also worked closely alongside Steve Daykin, the director of music at King William’s College in rehearsals.
The accompanying music was performed by the Cathedral organists Stuart Corrie and the current cathedral organ scholar, Chris Beaumont.
The service was led by Reverend Nigel Godfrey, himself an ex-student from King William’s College, and the school chaplain, Reverend Erica Scott.
Dr Litman said that he hoped that the Cathedral and King Williams College choirs will collaborate again in the future.
’St German’s Cathedral and KWC hope to develop their partnership with a proposed annual event, linking the school and Cathedral music department as the Cathedral continues to promote our treasured choral heritage,’ said Dr Litman.
