Ramsey commissioner William Hankin has resigned his position on the board with immediate effect.

The 69-year-old cited personal reasons for leaving the post he has held for more than four years.

He served as lead member of the parks and leisure committee and was also a representative on the Ramsey Chamber of Commerce since his election in April 2016.

No by-election will take place to fill the vacancy as Mr Hankin’s resignation falls within six months of the next local authority general election.

That election is set to take place on Thursday, April 22, next year.
