Isle of Man swimmer Charlotte Atkinson claimed an impressive fifth place in the women’s 100m butterfly final at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia on Friday.
Atkinson produced another record-breaking swim in the outdoor pool as she was the highest-placed swimmer from the home nations.
Having set a new senior island long course record when recording a time of 58.04 seconds in Thursday’s semi-final, the Manxwoman went even better in the final by raising that standard to 57.88s in the final itself as she claimed an excellent fifth.
Australia dominated the race with a cleansweep of the podium, Emma McKeon claiming gold ahead of Madeline Groves and Brianna Throssell.
