Nicole Burns produced a good performance on the opening day of the all-round individual gymnastics at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

The Manx Gymnastics Centre of Excellence athlete delivered a score of 12.250 on vault, before recording 10.600 on uneven bars, 11.900 on balance beam and 10.375 on the floor exercise for a total score of 45.2.

This placed the 20-year-old ninth in her subdivision and therefore it’s a waiting game to see if the Manx gymnast will progress.

Away from the Coomera Indoor Sports Centre, cyclist Matt Draper set a new personal best time of 4m 38.602s on his way to finishing 22nd in the men’s 4,000m individual pursuit qualifying, more than nine seconds quicker than his previous best.

Lawn bowlers Mark (pictured) and Clive McGreal are due to go up against their Northern Ireland counterparts today, having beaten Jamaica 21-10 in the second outing on Thursday.
