I’d like to nominate Helen Caley. Sometimes we can see schools and the workforce just being teaching staff, which is just simply not true. It takes an army of dedicated staff behind the scenes to make a school work and to keep the teaching staff sane! Helen is our exams officer and you can imagine that right now her whole job is totally different and completely bonkers. So I would like to say thank you for her patience, kindness and calm attitude that she always has and has managed to maintain even through this lockdown. She is a QEII hero and deserves a community shout out. Thank you Helen! - Jenna Withey

Could you please give a shout out to Tracy McGill and all the ladies working hard throughout the pandemic at Pulrose Spar.

- Megan Dooley

Could I get a big shoutout to Jason Edwards - he is the father of my niece (Kelsey aged 10) and works for Douglas Corporation in the cleansing dept. He has worked hard throughout the pandemic, emptying streets bins and picking up litter within the Douglas area plus working at the amenity site. He hasn’t been able to see his daughter properly for some time now as she lives with her mum, everyone is a hero at this time. My sincere thanks goes out to each and every key worker at this time from shop assistants, bus drivers, NHS staff, bin men, school teachers - the list goes on - Katrina Pearce

I’d like to nominate our postie but I don’t know his name! He does Victoria Avenue in Onchan, is always cheerful and has a smile on his face - Anouk de Vos

Thank you to Lizzy Main, Pilates Isle of Man, who has run five free online Pilates classes a week since her thriving business in Peel had to close in March. These include chair-based classes for those with less movement and with neurological conditions. It is not unusual for fitness instructors to take classes online but Lizzy’s unique quality is her effervescent personality and sense of fun and this has not only helped many of us (of all ages) to survive isolating, but has become the highlight of our days and weeks. Lizzy held International Pilates Day sessions recently and raised £1,200 for Friends of Noble’s Hospital. - Anonymous

I would like to nominate our postie for a shout out, Carol Gelling who delivers around Peel.

Always chirpy, smiling, cheeky, helpful and pleasant. She deserves it! - Lindsay & Mildy Armstrong

I would like to nominate Michael Kelly for a community hero. My mum was out on a walk up Ballaugh Glen but sadly fell and couldn’t get back up again - this man saw that she needed help and didn’t hesitate to get the help she needed. Thank you Michael for your kindness!
