Disability networks was also provided with £1,000 to buy a beach wheelchair, while Crossroads for Carers was awarded £750 towards a festival for young carers.

The Children’s Centre received £500 for parts to build a 3D printer and Ramsey and District Beekeepers’ Association was awarded £500 for a storage shed.

Sports organisations were also represented with Loaghtan Loaded receiving £500 for materials and labour for their work building trails in Conrhenny Plantation, and both Southern Swimming Club and Union Mills FC were awarded £500 for training equipment.

Other recipients included Ballakermeen High School, the Manx Deaf Society, Wooden Spoon, Hospice Isle of Man, Isle of Pride and MCH Psychological Services.

Manx Telecom chief executive Gary Lamb said: ’This year’s It’s Our Community Awards are probably more important than ever. 2020 has been a very odd year for all of us, and particularly challenging for the charities and organisations that do such great work on the Isle of Man.

’Manx Telecom has always seen itself as a community company, so these awards are very important to us.

’We hope that our donations will provide support where it is needed to all those worthy causes on the Isle of Man during this exceptionally difficult year.’
