Rushen Silver Band will be holding a fundraising concert on Monday, January 27, to raise funds for Southern Befrienders.
It will be held at St Columba’s Church in Port Erin starting at 8pm.
Chris Weldon, the chairman of Rushen Silver Band, said: ’Following on from a very successful festive period for the band, all the members of the band are looking forward to be playing some non-Christmas music for a change, and will be offering a new programme of music that will hopefully have something for everyone.
’A significant sum of money was raised at a similar concert in 2019 for Graih, and we’re hoping to do likewise again this year.’
The band released its third compact disc, a programme of Christmas music, at the end of last year.
Copies are still available either from the band and a number of outlets across the island.
Val Haslam, scheme manager of Southern Befrienders, said: ’We are very fortunate to have the support of our local community and are grateful to the members of Rushen Silver Band for this concert. Every penny raised will benefit older people who are feeling lonely in our local community.
Southern Befrienders is a charity that provides companionship to older people in the south of the island with volunteer befrienders and weekly social events. To get involved, ring 833025 or email [email protected]
Admission to the concert is free with a retiring collection taking place for Southern Befrienders.
