Bus passengers can now pay for their journeys using contactless payment.

The technology, launched on the service just in time for TT, will allow passengers to use contactless enabled credit and debit Europay, Mastercard or Visa cards up to the standard limit of £30.

Passengers will also be able to use Apple and Android pay on mobile phones or tablets.

Jason Moorhouse MHK, the politician responsible for public transport, said: ’Simply place your card or device near the reader, collect your ticket and hop on board - what could be easier?

’The introduction of contactless payments will improve public transport for both residents and visitors, and means customers in the Isle of Man can enjoy up to date technology solutions.’

During the TT fortnight, it is believed that up to 175,000 passenger journeys will be taken on Manx buses.

Contactless payments were introduced in London in 2012.
