The finals of Young Actor of Mann took place on Sunday at the Studio Theatre, Ballakermeen High School.

Organised by the Manx Amateur Drama Federation (MADF) and held in conjunction with the One Act Play Festival, the contest gave young actors, aged between 13 and 19, the chance to perform two different acts.

Taking part were Alex Reynolds, Michael Britton, Abbie Williams, Amy Gravestock, Gabriella Germishuys, Roman Trimble, Feena Wilson, Meisio Germishuys, Abbie Harrison, Ryan Coates and last year’s runner up, Joseph Long.

Each was required to perform two contrasting pieces from published plays and musical theatre, including Shakespeare, Oscar Wilde, George Bernard Shaw, Oklahoma! and Les Misérables. Their performances were judged by adjudicator Chris Baglin.

The title of Young Actor of Mann 2019 was awarded to Abbie Williams with Roman Trimble runner up.

Abbie also receives a bursary to the value of £500, provided by MADF to be used for fees towards attending a UK summer school or holiday workshop at a drama school of her choice.

MADF was formed in the 1940s to promote live theatre in the island.
