A man and woman have been accused of a fraud worth over £900,000.
Abdul Qayum Khan pleaded not guilty to nine counts of fraud and one count of acquiring criminal property.
Zarnie Abenojar Khan entered a ‘no plea’ response to nine counts of fraud, two of concealing criminal property, one of forgery, and one of intimidating a witness.
She is also charged with an act against public justice, but a plea to that can only be entered at the higher court.
The 55-year-olds of Meadow Crescent, Douglas, are accused of fraudulently obtaining money from several people, relating to an investment in a tuna fishing and fish processing business called ‘Goodwill Fish Processing’, which allegedly did not exist.
On September 1, the two defendants were committed to the Court of General Gaol Delivery, to appear on a date to be set.
Mr Khan was represented in court by advocate Jim Travers, while Ms Khan was represented by Andrew Baker.
Bail continues.
