Dyllan Berry, aged 24, of Lord Street, Douglas, has appeared before the High Bailiff charged with two counts of common assault on a female.

He pleaded not guilty to one but is yet to enter a plea to the second.

He has pleaded guilty to the theft of eight diazepam tablets, and possession of diazepam.

Mr Berry appeared in court via video link from the prison and was represented in court by advocate Stephen Wood.

The case was adjourned until February 22 when a pre-trial review will be held for the common assault charge which he has denied, and a plea will be entered to the second common assault allegation.

The drug-related charges will be dealt with after the outcome of any common assault trial.

Bail was granted in the sum of £500 with conditions to reside at an address in Onchan, not to enter specified locations relating to the alleged victim, not to enter licensed premises or consume alcohol in a public place, and not to leave the island without court permission.
