The driver of an uninsured, untaxed tractor and trailer, which were in a dangerous condition, has been fined £1,890.

Lewis Michael Cowin, 22, also had his licence endorsed with eight points, to add to six previous points, resulting in a six-month disqualification.

Police saw Cowin driving a Same Leopard tractor, with a trailer, on July 17, on the A36 Shoulder Road in Foxdale.

Checks found he held no vehicle licence and was uninsured.

The tractor and trailer had numerous defects.

Defence advocate Darren Taubitz said that the tractor was only usually used in a farmyard and had been buying parts for it.

Cowin, of Ballacraine, must also pay £50 prosecution costs and will pay at a rate of £50 per week.
