A man who drove while under the influence of cocaine and cannabis has been fined £1,250 and banned from driving for a year.
Goran Lukasz Gasinski admitted driving while unfit as well as possession of cannabis.
High Bailiff Jayne Hughes also ordered him to retake his test at the end of the ban.
Police followed him, initially as there was recent damage to the vehicle, and stopped him on Woodbourne Road.
When they spoke to Gasinski he was said to be smelling of cannabis with enlarged pupils.
The 20-year-old was arrested and taken to police headquarters where a sample of blood was taken.
The result later showed a cannabis presence of six micrograms per litre of blood.
The UK legal limit for cannabis (THC) is two micrograms per litre of blood.
The blood sample also showed the presence of cocaine at 104 micrograms per litre of blood.
The UK legal limit for benzoylecgonine (cocaine) is 50 micrograms per litre of blood.
There are no legal limits in Manx law but the UK limits can be used for guidance.
Gasinski was searched and police found 0.7 grams of cannabis in his underwear.
A doctor reported that Gasinski’s speech and reactions were slow.
Defence advocate Paul Glover asked for credit to be given for his client’s guilty plea and said that he had no significant previous convictions.
Mr Glover pointed out that it was a small amount of cannabis and that Gasinski had not been in any trouble since the offence, which was now more than six months ago.
The High Bailiff fined Gasinski £1,000 for driving while unfit and £250 for cannabis possession.
He must also pay £125 prosecution costs and will pay all amounts at a rate of £50 per week.
