An Onchan man who breached a Domestic Abuse Protection Notice twice has been fined £850.

Mark Whipp, aged 39, was issued with the notice on May 5.

Despite that, he was found with the woman concerned at Barbary Coast in Douglas on July 4, then on July 11 at her home, where police found him hiding in a wardrobe.

A probation report said Whipp, of Maple Avenue, said he was still in a relationship with the woman.

He said on the first occasion, her son had wanted to watch the football with him, and on the second occasion, family were visiting, and they’d wanted to avoid questions.

Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood also ordered £125 prosecution costs and Whipp will pay £50 per week.
