A man will stand trial next year after denying a charge of wounding with intent to commit murder following a series of alleged incidents in the Maughold area last year.

Taylor Jake Murphy appeared at the Court of General Gaol Delivery on Friday, where he entered a not guilty plea to the charge.

However, the 20-year-old, of High View Road, Douglas, admitted robbery, taking a vehicle without consent, possession of an offensive weapon, namely a knife, and two counts of theft.

The charge of wounding with intent to commit murder relates to alleged offences committed at Maughold and Port Cornaa on October 5 and 6. The offences Murphy admitted were also allegedly committed during the same period and in the same area.

He was represented by advocate David Reynolds.

The trial has been listed for May 17 next year. Murphy was remanded in custody until then.
