An Onchan man has been fined £500 for cocaine possession.

Jason Craig Kneale, of Second Avenue, pleaded guilty to the offence and was also ordered to pay £125 prosecution costs.

A court heard that Kneale was arrested at Farrants Way in Castletown on December 13.

He was initially also charged with provoking behaviour and being drunk and disorderly, which he’d denied, but those charges were dismissed after he agreed to a 12-month binding order.

When 31-year-old Kneale was searched, police found 4.3 grams of cocaine, which they valued at £430.

Defence advocate David Reynolds said that Kneale had been out on an office Christmas party and had bought the drug on impulse.

He’ll pay at a rate of £100 per month.
