A woman who stole a box from outside an Athol Street office in Douglas has been fined £450.

Denise Elizabeth Watterson helped herself to the item which belonged to Dixcart.

Magistrates heard that the defendant was walking along Athol Street on February 3, at 3.20pm.

She tried to open the door of number 64, then picked up a box used for deliveries, and walked off with it.

Fifty-five-year-old Watterson, of Peel Road, Douglas, was identified from CCTV footage and told police she thought the office was empty, and the box was abandoned.

It was found at her home being used for bathroom products.

She must pay the fine, plus £125 prosecution costs, at a rate of £10 per week, deducted from benefits.
