A 50-year-old man has denied making off without paying for a taxi.

Michael Daniel Bergquist will face a pre-trial review in summary court on October 6.

The offence is alleged to have been committed on July 25, at his Lheannag Park address in Douglas.

However, Bergquist admitted stealing a 50 inch Sharp television, valued at £329 from Tesco on Lake Road on August 6, obstructing police on August 7, and damaging a police cell on August 9.

He’ll be sentenced for those offences after the outcome of a trial for the denied offence.

Bergquist is also due to face a summary court trial on November 9 for a previously denied allegation of burglary at the Horse and Plough pub.

He is remanded.
