A man who twice breached the conditions of his early prison release has been put on probation for two years.
Craig Philip Teare, 40, admitted both breaches, as well as affray and theft.
Prosecuting advocate Harry Bellis told the court that Teare was released from prison on a short term licence on May 29.
He had been originally jailed in August 2024, for two years and nine months, after admitting sexually assaulting a teenage girl on a bus.
On June 13 this year, he went to the Manx Telecom Douglas store on June 13 and stole a pair of Beats Studio Pro headphones, valued at £349.99.
Once outside, he passed them to a woman, who then sold them at CEX.
She was sentenced in a previous court.
On July 12, Teare was residing at the bail hostel Tromode House when he became involved in an altercation in the kitchen.
He was said to have struck another male resident.
Mr Bellis said that footage of the incident had been viewed, and it was accepted that the other male had instigated the incident, but that Teare’s actions had gone beyond self-defence.
On August 14, Tromode House staff reported that Teare had not returned by the curfew.
He was later located at an address at Cushag Road in Anagh Coar and arrested.
A probation report said that a place at Tromode House was still open to the defendant and that the supervision element of the sentence he was released early from was due to end on August 28.He was also said to be wearing an electronic tag which would also be removed on that date.
The report said that Teare had been diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood also ordered him to pay £375 prosecution costs, at a rate of £15 per week.
