Two brothers accused of trying to swap places in a prison escape bid have been committed to the Court of General Gaol Delivery.
Kyle Murphy, aged 20, is charged with attempting to escape from lawful custody, while Callum Murphy, 22, is accused of aiding an attempt to escape.
Callum Murphy was said to have visited his brother on February 28, and they are then accused of swapping the tabard worn by prisoner Kyle Murphy over, so that Callum Murphy was wearing it.
They are then alleged to have deliberately joined the wrong queues, relating to leaving the prison, and going back to the wing, although the alleged escape plan was said to have been stopped very quickly.
The offence of aiding an attempt to escape can only be heard at the Court of General Gaol Delivery, while the attempting to escape offence is an either way offence, meaning either the summary court or Court of General Gaol Delivery can deal with it, depending on how serious it is deemed.
The brothers made a further court appearance on August 25 and were committed to the higher court, where they will appear on September 18.
Kyle Murphy was represented in court by advocate Helen Lobb, while Callum Murphy was represented by David Reynolds.
Callum Murphy, of Hillside Avenue, Douglas, is also charged with obstructing a drug search on May 29 at the Villa Marina Colonnade.
Bail continues for him, while Kyle Murphy remains an inmate at the prison.
