A Douglas man has been given a conditional discharge after a row with his partner at the Rosemount pub.
Christopher Walton pleaded guilty to disorderly behaviour on licensed premises and was also ordered to pay £125 prosecution costs.
The 42-year-old was also ordered to forfeit £250 as the offence was committed while he was subject to a 12-month binding order, imposed in June which had a recognisance of £500.
Prosecuting advocate Roger Kane told the court that Walton and his partner had been drinking at the Rosemount in Woodbourne Road on November 28.
They were said to have quarrelled in the doorway after Walton wanted to leave and his partner did not.
The pub licensee reported seeing Walton grabbing the woman’s arm and using abusive language.
Police were called and went to the woman’s home to perform a welfare check.
Walton, who lives at Pine Hill, was arrested and when interviewed handed in a prepared statement denying disorderly behaviour on licensed premises.
Mr Kane said that Walton’s partner was in court to support him and had said she did not feel in any danger.
The prosecutor said that a binding order had been considered but as Walton was already subject to one, this had been deemed not appropriate.
Defence advocate John Wright said that his client had admitted the offence at the earliest opportunity and that both parties had been drinking.
Mr Wright said that the offence was at the lower end of the scale for disorderly behaviour offences.
The court heard that Walton had spent two nights in custody after the incident.
He will pay the costs and binding order forfeit amount at a rate of £50 per month.
