A teenager who denies making drugs and trying to send them in the post has made a further court appearance.
Nineteen-year-old Ryan Alexander Woodworth has previously pleaded not guilty to two counts of production of drugs and two counts of possessing them with intent to supply.
The charges are said to relate to 5-Fluoro-ADB (also known as 5F-MDMB-PINACA), a substance which was described in court as synthetic cannabinoid and vaping juice.
It is alleged that the defendant attempted to post 15 vials, containing 160 millilitres of the drug off the island on March 3 and 8.
The case had previously been adjourned for more information on the drug to be obtained from police, but on August 25, prosecuting advocate Harry Bellis said that only generalised guidelines had been received so far, which described the drug as ‘more potent than cannabis in its normal sense.’
Mr Bellis said that the police may have to obtain an expert’s report on the drug, as more guidance would be needed for sentencing if the defendant was convicted.
However, both the prosecution and defence agreed that a trial could take place in summary court and Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood accepted jurisdiction for the trial.
A pre-trial review has been scheduled for October 20.
