A 23-year-old Douglas man has been put on probation for a year after admitting property damage and cannabis possession.

Brogan Keith Misselbrook has also been handed a six month licensing ban, prohibiting him from purchasing or being sold alcohol, or entering licensed premises.

He was also ordered to pay £275 compensation and £125 prosecution costs, at a rate of £10 per week, deducted from benefits.

Prosecuting advocate Annie Bannister told the court that police were on patrol on Bucks Road in Douglas on April 2, at around 3pm, when they saw Misselbrook leaving Spar.

Information was received that he was in possession of drugs, so police exited their vehicle intending to search him.

However, as soon as Misselbrook saw them he ran off, onto Mona Street, and towards Murray House.

Officers chased him, shouting for him to stop, but Misselbrook ignored them and continued running onto Mount Havelock, then headed back onto Mona Street, where he was detained.

Officers then retraced his route and found a grey cannabis prescription pouch with no name on it, in Mona Street.

It contained 8.1 grams of cannabis, valued by police at £162.

The prescription packaging was sent to forensics and Misselbrook’s fingerprints were found on it.

On October 6, last year, he was said to have broken windows at a property, causing around £800 worth of damage, but no further details were read out in court.

In May 2026, Misselbrook, of Mona Street, was fined £900 for provoking behaviour outside Noble’s Hospital and being drunk in public at Glen Falcon Gardens.

Defence advocate Jane Gray said that the probation report provided a great deal of detail about her client.

Ms Gray said that a period of probation would hopefully reduce the risk of further offending.

Magistrates issued a 12-month probation order for each offence to run concurrently.
